Carnival and Bread & Puppet Theatre
The celebration of Carnival embodies the richness of Dominican cultural heritage and tradition. VIC is sponsoring an arts and cultural exchange that will bring members of the Bread & Puppet Theatre of Glover, Vermont to Puerto Plata to participate in Carnival. Members of the B&P puppet troupe will collaborate with Puerto Plato students, community groups, and artists to develop workshops in mask-making and puppetry that honor traditional and contemporary Dominican cultural heritage. Inclusiveness, wide-spread community participation, and pride of place and patrimony will characterize this hands-on collaboration between Dominican and Vermont artists.
