Dominican Republic Baseball-Cultural Exchange

Base ball in the dominican republicThe Dominican Republic has contributed more professional baseball players to the world of sports than any other country.  Baseball dominates the neighborhoods and playgrounds of every Dominican community and forms the nucleus around which much social activity and learning occurs.

The Vermont-Dominican Republic Baseball Cultural Exchange Program is a fun-filled, sports-filled program connecting Little League players, coaches, families, and communities of Vermont and the Dominican Republic through “love of the game”.

During winter vacations, teams from Vermont travel to Puerto Plata for a week-long baseball tournament, community service learning and cultural immersion. The exchange is reciprocated when the Dominican players and coaches travel to Vermont for an exciting week of baseball, cultural learning and summer in Vermont.  For all involved, kids, adults, and communities, this is a profound, life-changing experience; about baseball and so much more.

VIC welcomes the opportunity to share this experience with interested teams and communities and is currently scheduling exchanges for 2010 & 2011. Contact VIC for more information.
